The use of carbon fibre is becoming more and more widespread not just in race and track cars but on modified performance cars and even standard factory trim. One request we often get is to be able to colour code the carbon to the rest of the car but still being able to show that the panel or accessory is made of carbon. A transparent painting technique for want of a simple description.
Here’s an example of what we’re able to do on the door of a VW Mk1 Golf that was manufactured in wet lay carbon fibre. The client was having the car painted black and rather than leave the carbon they wanted a black finish to match the rest of the car but still able to tell upon a closer look that the panel was made of carbon fibre –
